Payment Terms

How buyers pay for frozen seafood orders — transfer, Letter of Credit and approved alternatives.

Updated October 6, 2026

Overview

These terms describe how buyers pay United Friends’ Global Seafood (UFG SEAFOOD). The payment method and amounts for your order are confirmed on the quotation and proforma invoice, which take precedence over this page.

Quotations & currency

  • Prices are quoted in US dollars (USD) unless stated otherwise, per the agreed Incoterm (see Shipping Policy).
  • Each quotation shows its validity period. Seafood prices and freight rates change with supply and market conditions, so we cannot hold prices after that period.
  • An order is confirmed when both parties accept the proforma invoice and the first payment (or L/C) condition is met.

Telegraphic transfer (T/T) — advance + balance

StepStandard terms
Advance payment30% of the invoice value on order confirmation, before we place the order with the supplier.
Balance70% against a copy of the shipping documents (bill of lading, invoice, packing list), before original documents are released.

Payment is made by international bank transfer to the account shown on our formal invoice. Funds must be received in full — after the buyer’s bank charges — before documents are released.

Letter of Credit (L/C)

  • Irrevocable Letter of Credit at sight, issued by a first-class bank acceptable to UFG SEAFOOD, and advised or confirmed through a bank we nominate.
  • The L/C must be opened in time to allow production and loading — normally before we book the shipment — and must match the proforma invoice, Incoterm, ports and required documents.
  • Subject to UCP 600. Partial shipments and transshipment are allowed unless the contract states otherwise.
  • Draft the L/C text with us before issue; we are not responsible for delays caused by terms that do not match the contract.

Other terms

Other methods, such as cash against documents (CAD) or open-account terms for established, approved buyers, may be agreed in writing after a credit review. Such terms are exceptions, are stated on the proforma invoice and may require security or credit insurance.

Bank charges & taxes

  • Unless agreed otherwise, the buyer pays its own bank’s charges and the issuing bank’s L/C charges; we pay charges of our advising bank.
  • Import duties, taxes and clearance costs at destination are for the buyer’s account.

Late or missed payment

If a payment is not received by its due date, we may hold the order or shipment, delay release of documents and re-quote affected goods. Where goods incur storage, demurrage or detention because of late payment, those costs are for the buyer’s account. Any further consequences are set out in the sales contract.

Payment security

Beware of payment fraud. We never change our bank details by email alone. Before sending any payment, confirm the account details by phone on +1 872-235-7481 using the number on this site, and only pay to the account on our formal invoice. Report suspicious messages to ufgseafood@gmail.com straight away.
